ABU DHABI INDIAN SCHOOL, AL MUROOR

ABOUT THE CAMPAGIN

Abu Dhabi Indian School is inspired by His Highness Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s principles and approach to global sustainability.

The school has always inspired the community to think critically and differently about the environmental issues in the region. The campaign undertaken is based on the sustainable development goals which talk about ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water.

Hold That Drop” campaign was launched on 8th November 2018, under the able guidance of the school Principal, Mr. Neeraj Bhargava. It aims to educate the community on the implications of the indiscriminate use of water. The campaign also encourages the installation of aerators to the taps which would restrict the flow of water.

Stagnation and putrification yield to decay. Movement and insightful action yield to remedy the situation.

We at ADIS are levers of that change, leading to a responsible future.

A Future that would let your next generation HOLD THAT DROP because we saved it.

Tips to save water

TURN THE TAPS OFF

Control your daily water consumption need. While brushing teeth or while shaving a tap closed for a minute can save upto 7 to 8 litres of water. Fixing Leaky taps can save around 200 gallons a month.

REDUCE SHOWER TIMING

Purchase water saver shower heads and stop the water flow while applying shampoo or soap. Avoid Bath tub showers as a single use occupies an average 42 gallons of water with additional 30 gallons post bath tub use.

EDUCATE AND RAISE AWARNESS

Encourage your family, friends, and community to adopt water-saving habits. Raising awareness about the importance of water conservation can have a collective impact.

STOCK DIRTY CLOTHES

Water consumption can be reduced by using your washing machine at full load capacity rather than multiple partial loads. This will save your cost of electricity as well along with precious water.

FIXTURES & APPLIANCES

Install water saving appliances and fixtures which can control and restrict the flow of water automatically which can be affixed on taps and at the same time they serve as filter for getting clean water.

REUSE WATER

Consider collecting and reusing water from activities like rinsing fruits and vegetables or washing your hands. This water can be used for watering plants
