Principal’s Annual Report 2017


Abu Dhabi Indian School has been awarded The Best School Award in the Middle East with regards to the results of the CBSE Board Examinations by the ‘Big Idea Middle East’.

Varun Shaji Neelakantan of Abu Dhabi Indian School became the Second overall Topper in the Middle East with 98.2%. He also scored 100% in Chemistry. POOJA RAJESH KODIPARAMBATHU is awarded the second topper in the Middle East in the Commerce Stream.

Besides Citation, Trophies and Medals, Manipal University, Dubai offered Scholarships to all the Winners.

The Overall topper in the Science stream in our school is VARUN SHAJI NEELAKANTAN with 98.2% and is placed in the Middle East Topper list- 2nd position and the overall topper in the Commerce stream in our school is POOJA RAJESH KODIPARAMBATHU with 97.4% and is placed in Middle East Topper List -3rd Position.

  1. In the Science stream (GIRLS SECTION), the FIRST position is bagged by SHRIVIDYA SUBRAMANIAN HARIHARAN WITH 6% and the SECOND position by HARSHA SALIM VALIYA PRAMBIL & SRUTHI SUSAN KURIAKOSE with 96.4% and the THIRD position by SAVITA VINAYAGA MOORTHI WITH 96.2%.
  2. In the Science stream (BOYS SECTION), the FIRST position is bagged by VARUN SHAJI NEELAKANTAN with 98.2% and the SECOND position by DIPRO TAPAS RAY with 97.4% and the THIRD position by SRI SAI VIJAYA ADITYA NITTALA WITH 96.4%.
  3. In the Commerce Stream (GIRLS SECTION), the FIRST position is bagged by POOJA RAJESH KONDI PARAMBATHU WITH 97.4% and the SECOND POSITION by MEENAKSHI JAIKRISHNA RAMESA with 95.4% & the THIRD position by NEHA MARIAM VARGHESE WITH 95.4%.
  4. In the Commerce Stream (BOYS SECTION), the FIRST position is bagged by ABISHEK DHARSHAN VALASUBRAMANIAN with 93.4% and the SECOND POSITION by BILAL VAHAB ABDUL RAHMAN WITH 89.8% & the THIRD position by SIDHARTH HAREESH KUMAR with 88.8%.

162 students out of 182 have secured above 75% in the Science Stream and 38 out of 115 students have secured above 75% in the Commerce Stream.

Out of 494 students, 110 students have secured 10 CGPA, 166 students have secured 9 CGPA, 116 students have secured 8 CGPA. About 93.32% of the students who have attended the exam scored more than 75%.


We have 2 students who have been conferred with the Sharjah Award for the year 2016 – 2017.

Under the “Sustainable School Initiative – Lead School Award (SILVER CATEGORY)”, we have been awarded with a cash prize of AED 20,000 by the ENVIORNMENT AGENCY, ABU DHABI for the third consecutive year.


A grand function was organized on 28th April 2016, at Operatives Village, Yas Island under the Patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development. Laborers were honored with certificates and gifts. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan inaugurated the Mural “All together in the Emirates of Zayed” presented by ADIS to the labourers. We are grateful to our former Chairman Mr. Mohan Jashanmal for being instrumental in involving ADIS in this social venture. Dr. B.R. Shetty Chairman, BOG received the certificate for ADIS from His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. The Cultural program and UAE National Anthem presented by ADIS.
Release of the school Magazine was held on 13th December 2016 in the school Auditorium in the presence of our Chairman Dr. B.R. Shetty and Mr. Adnan Chilwan and other Board members.
ADIS organized and participated wholeheartedly in a blood donation camp as part of UAE’s Year of Giving.
17th School Convocation for Girls was held on 15 February 2017 and for Boys on 16 February 2017.The chief guest for the girls was Dr. Mrs. C.R Shetty. The chief guest for the boys was our loving Chairman, Dr. B.R Shetty.
Mr. Sarvotham Shetty and Mr. Bawa Haji inaugurated the music and dance rooms. The function included a dance performance by the girls and music performance by the boys.
Around 4000 children of ADIS participated in the painting competition held in the school campus in the month of January 2017.
Students from our school participated in the Star Quiz Competition organised by the Star Plus Channel. They qualified for the quarter final round after being selected among 250 teams.

Soumya Srinivas of VIII C and Mohammad Yasser of XI C bagged the 1st position and won the National Championship of Asianet Think and Learn Challenge held at Elite Film Studio, IMPZ Dubai. They received prize amount of USD 1000/- each.

Science Exhibition was held on 26 January 2017 to celebrate the Indian Republic day on school campus.

  • ADIS won the second position in the Idea Factory competition held at Abu Dhabi University. The students were awarded certificates of appreciation and Dhs. 800 worth of Voucher from Sharaf DG was presented.
  • ADIS conducted a PISA based test for students of the 11th grade to know the performance of the students as compared to the international standard. A total of 84 students participated.
  • ADIS participated in QuizBITE competition conducted by the Birla Institute of Technology in Ras al Khaimah. The girls team reached the semi finals and the boys team secured the first position.

Sports Achievements

Abu Dhabi Indian School, Br.-1, Al Wathba organised the Inter School Chess Competition 9th & 10th October, 2016. 10 boys & 10 girls from our school participated and our school got the overall championship.
The CBSE UAE Cluster Chess Championship was held on 16th & 17th October, 2016. Our branch school had organised the event. Our school got the overall championship trophy. 8 Boys & 8 Girls qualified for the CBSE National Chess Tournament which was held between 15th & 20th December, 2016 at Varanasi.
The Indian High School, Dubai organised the CBSE UAE Cluster Swimming Competition on the 19th & 20th October, 2016. 8 Boys & 2 Girls qualified for the CBSE National Swimming Competition which was held at Bhopal between 15th & 18th November, 2016.
JSS Private School, Dubai organized the CBSE UAE Cluster Football Tournament from 23rd to 27th October, 2016. 39 schools from all over UAE participated in the Tournament. Our school got the Runners Up Trophy and qualified for the CBSE National Football Tournament which was held at Varanasi between 15th & 22nd December. 2016.
Delhi Private School organized CBSE Cluster Tennis Tournament on 9th & 10tn November. 2016. Our under 19 Girls qualified for the Nationals which was held at Noida, INDIA from 1st to 5th December 2016.
Our school organized Inter School Sports Meet on 9th & 10th November. 2016. 28 schools from all over UAE participated. Our girls team got over all championship trophy & our boys team got over all 2nd place.
Our school organized CBSE UAE Cluster Badminton Tournament on 21st & 22nd November, 2016. U- 19 Boys & U 17 Girls qualified for the National which was held at Varanasi between 25th & 30th December, 2016.
Indian High School, Dubai organized the CBSE UAE Cluster Athletic Meet on 5th & 6th December, 2016 at Dubai Police officers club stadium. 5 Boys & 12 Girls were qualified for the National which was held at Vadodara, Gujarat, INDIA between 27th & 30th December, 2016. Our schools U 14 Girls team bagged Silver Medal in 4 X 100 m Relay.

Other Achievements

In the Rangoli Gulf  Season 6,  78 schools across UAE participated in the event. Abu Dhabi Indian School secured the over all Second position among the 12 Finalists schools and also received a “LAPTOP” for the school.

Our school girls won the best dance group trophy.

Abhijit Anil Kumar was the best male singer.

Our children brought many laurels to the school by participating and winning in various competitions such as Abu Dhabi Leadership Speech competition, Inter-Shool Quiz Competitions conducted by various schools.

Was celebrated on a grand scale in the school premises on 29th November 2016 from 6.00 pm. His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development was the chief guest. The program started with the hoisting of UAE National flag followed by a series of cultural programs. The entire programme was a huge success.

UAE Flag Day was celebrated and Martyr’s Day was observed as per ADEK directives.

The project was a surgical robot which works on fluids rather than electricity. The team consisted of Srinishi Sriram, Krithika Iyer and Rima Ravi.
Farewell for Mr. Clemente De Souza, Vice Principal (Boys Section) was held on 7th December 2016 in the school auditorium. All the Board of Governors along with Mr. V.K. Mathu attended and graced the occasion.

  1. Our teachers have attended various workshops/seminars organized by ADEK, CBSE, HAAD and other government agencies across UAE and the same information was disseminated to all the teachers and students concerned across the school.
  2. CPD workshop on the modifications to be made in the Lesson Plan was conducted by Principal & Vice Principal for three days for various sections in August 2017 as part of a regular practice. A short e- library was initiated to promote best teaching practices across the school.

Workshops for teachers on Communication skills and how to deal effectively with Special Needs Children.

  1. I attended 29th Gulf Principals conference at Dubai from 11 january 2017 to 14th January 2017.
  2. ADEK conducted a workshop in the school premises on 29th September 2016. This workshop was basically for the pilot licensing of the teachers. A total of 40 teachers attended the workshop in TELIS. All these teachers have received a course completion certificate along with a memento from ADEK.
  3. TALIS is an international teacher survey led by Ms. May Hamdi, Arabic Supervisor. ADEK appreciated the participation of 96% of the staff in this project.

Our school pioneered in participating with cultural exchange programme with Government School, Hmouda Bin Ali and present traditional dance and music items at their programme.
The Counseling cell of the school headed by Ms. Veena Raghwa organized several career talks and fairs during the year and invited universities from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and UAE to showcase their courses, admission criteria, scholarship etc. to students of grade 11 and 12.

A University Fair was organized by the School in which a record number of Universities participated and the students derived the benefit.

Career Guidance Seminars were organized for parents and students of grades 9 and 10 to help them learn about various higher education options, Entrance exams and admission process in different countries. Approximately 1800 parents and students benefitted from these seminars. Students from grade 10 participated in aptitude, personality, interest and intelligence testing to help them select the study stream best suited to them. Our school was selected by ADEC to participate in the pilot International Assessment Survey for TIMSS and PISA.

The school also has Middle East toppers in International Bench Marking Test (IBT) and Shastra Pratibha (Science Aptitude Test).

The graduating class of 2016 made us very proud when students from our school were selected by universities like Boston,  University of Michigan, Cornell University, University of Berkeley, to name a few.

We also conduct workshops for students on Cyber bullying, study skills, motivational talks, leadership training, peer career educators.

Child Safety Policies are being followed at the school and maximum precautions are being taken to avoid any accidents and mishaps.
His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan was the Chief Guest for the UAE National Day Celebrations held at Abu Dhabi Indian School, on 29th November, 2016 and graced the occasion.

Our Chairman Dr. B.R. Shetty had accompanied Group CEO of Dubai Islamic Bank, Mr. Adnan Chilwan for a special session with our students.

A motivational talk was delivered by well know speaker Mr. Rahul Kapoor from India.

New libraries and New Computer Labs, one each for the Junior Boys and Junior Girls were inaugurated on 23rd November 2016.

The remaining phase of LED’s & Smart Board’s across the school has been completed. Now all the class rooms are equipped with the LED’s & Smart Boards with internet to facilitate the incorporation of ICT in the lessons.

Different Club were initiated across the school such as Goodwill Ambassdor Club, Arabic Club, Transition Club, Q-matter, Canvas, to name a few to showcase the talents of all the children.

The communication system from school to Parents in all arenas under progress. The RFID system for tracking of the school buses will be in place shortly.  A new dynamic and interactive website for the school will soon be launched.
